Interim Allowance for Pensioners From October

COLOMBO (News 1st); The government has decided to provide an interim allowance of 3000 rupees to pensioners starting from October. 

State Minister for Provincial Councils and Local Government, Janaka Wakkambura, announced that the allowance will be disbursed in October, along with the outstanding amount for September.

The Ministry of Public Administration recently issued a circular to implement this interim allowance for government pensioners.

However, the Election Commission has intervened, requesting information about the issuance of the circular during the presidential election period.

The Election Commission has stipulated that the interim allowance will not be paid until the conclusion of the presidential election. They have instructed that the increased allowance for September should be combined with the October payment.

State Minister Wakkambura confirmed that the decision has been made to distribute the allowance in October, ensuring that pensioners receive their due payments.
