He said that the Grama Niladhari officials have promised that they will not do anything that will cause any problems regarding the polling activities.

The Election Commission Chief hopes that the Grama Niladhari officials will join the election duties without any problem in spite of this protest.

The Grama Niladhari Officials Trade Union Alliance has declared a week of black protests starting today, August 12th, and continuing until the 19th.

This announcement comes in response to the recent publication of a service constitution for Grama Niladhari Officials through the gazette, which was done without prior consultation with the Grama Niladhari Officials.

Nandana Ranasinghe, Co-Chairman of the Grama Niladhari Officials Trade Union Alliance, stated that the decision to protest was made to express their dissatisfaction and demand proper consultation in the future.
