COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Samagi Jana Balawegay convened its electorate meeting in Passara on Sunday (28) under the guidance of party leader Sajith Premadasa.

Addressing the gathering, MP Ranjith Madduma Bandara, General Secretary of SJB, highlighted the pivotal decisions ahead, stating, "Today marks a turning point. Should Pohottuwa MPs align with Ranil, they jeopardize their electoral prospects; with Basil, they lose votes. Ranil and Basil lack public endorsement, prompting over 7.5 million citizens to pledge support to Sajith Premadasa. On August 8, we will forge a formidable alliance, already bolstered by 15 MPs from Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna, untainted by corruption. More MPs will join us, totaling over 30, solidifying our path to power."

Former MP Chaminda Wijesiri of SJB emphasized the transparency needed in governance, "Ranil Wickremesinghe's possession of Anura Kumara Dissanayake's files should not obscure the truth. Anura's actions are known, and attempts to thwart Ranil's influence are futile. Today, Anura, your political maneuvers are exposed, uniting the people in our leader's vision."

MP Nayana Wasalathilake of SJB assured, "We will secure victory in Badulla with more than 150,000 votes. Sajith Premadasa is the catalyst for change, resolving local issues and fostering development. On September 21, he will assume presidency."

Sajith Premadasa, Leader of the Opposition, rallied supporters, affirming their inclusive agenda, "Across all races, religions, and districts, our journey resonates. Survey reports validate our resolve."

"Today, our nation contends with a government dismissing Supreme Court rulings and subverting constitutional norms. This administration, led by a corrupt trio, defies our laws. Their day of reckoning is near; justice will prevail," he said.
