Kalatuwawa Pipe Damage Report Headed to Court Next Week

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The National Water Supply and Drainage Board says that the assessment report of the damage to the transmission pipe that carries water from Kalatuwawa to many areas including Homagama, will be submitted to the court next week.

The Assistant General Manager of Operations and Maintenance, at the National Water Supply Board, Kumudu Wijegunawardena said that the market value of the equipment used in the pipeline is being assessed.

A water transmission pipeline carrying water from the Kalatuwawa treatment plant to Homagama and surrounding areas burst on June 17.

The cause of burst was a car accident.

As a result, water supply to Homagama, Godagama, Pannipitiya, Rukmalgama, Palanwatta and Mattegoda areas was suspended.

The number of affected water consumers from the disruption was Rs. 100,000.
