Government Raises Allowance for Executive Officers

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Ministry of Public Administration, Home Affairs, and Local Government announced a Rs. 10,000 increase in the monthly allowance for government executive officers.

This brings the total allowance from Rs. 15,000 to Rs. 25,000, effective from the 1st of July.

The new allowance is a response to ongoing discussions about government employee compensation.

A related circular was also released on Thursday (27) outlining the details of the increase.

However, the joint committee representing government executives expressed disappointment that the raise doesn't fully address their demands.
