Water transmission pipe at the Kalatuwawa Water Purification Plant bursts, water supply to many areas disrupted until further notice

Colombo(News1st) : A car accident in Godagama has caused a water transmission pipe at the Kalatuwawa Water Purification Plant to burst.

The Assistant General Manager of Operations and Maintenance, at the National Water Supply Board, Kumudu Wijegunawardena said that Homagama, Godagama, Pannipitiya, Rukmalgama, Palanwatta, and Mattegoda are among the affected areas.

He said that the disruption is expected to affect around 100,000 water consumers.

Kumudu Wijegunawardena further said that the Board is aiming to restore water supply by 6 pm today, however, repairs could extend until midnight if the pipe suffers significant damage.

The National Water Supply Board's Ambatale Production Division is currently working on fixing the damaged pipe.
