Department of Forest Conservation launches operation to protect Sinharaja Forest

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Department of Forest Conservation has launched a special three-day operation in the Sinharaja Forest.

Forest Conservation General Nishantha Edirisinghe initiated the operation based on intelligence suggesting forest destruction and smuggling activities.

Over 100 forest conservation officers will be deployed to conduct comprehensive inspections throughout the forest.

Edirisinghe emphasized the urgency of this operation to safeguard the Sinharaja, a World Heritage Site.
