COLOMBO (News 1st); The Sri Lankan Prison Department has implemented immediate measures at Galle Prison following the death of an inmate from suspected brain fever.
Dr. Hemantha Ranasinghe, Director of Prison Health Services, confirmed the death and stated that all inmates and officers at Galle Prison have been proactively provided with medication.
This precautionary measure aims to prevent further spread of the illness within the confined environment of the prison.
Additionally, Dr. Ranasinghe announced that the courts will be taking steps to transfer suspects directed to the Galle Prison to the Angunukolapelessa Prison.
