COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Department of National Museums have signed an agreement to bring back six Kandyan artefacts from the Netherlands after more than two centuries.
The artefacts will return home before the end of 2023, Director General of the Department of National Museums Sanuja Kasthuriarachchi said.
The artefacts were obtained by the Dutch East India Company during the siege of the palace of Kandy in 1765 when a large scale looting of Kandyan objects took place.
