Fatal accident on A9 road leaves three dead

COLOMBO (News 1st); Three people died, and eight others were injured following a fatal accident in the Panichchakulam area along the A9 road.

Sri Lanka Police said the deceased were identified as residents of Mulleriyawa, Wellampitiya, and Jaffna, aged 38, 46, and 58.

Sri Lanka Police added that the accident took place when a van plying from Colombo to Jaffna rear-ended a truck early on Tuesday (15) morning.

Police went on to note that the truck had rear-ended another truck parked in front of it.

The driver of the van was arrested over the accident.
