Pakistan Navy Chief of Staff meets President, PM, Tri-Forces Commanders

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Chief of the Naval Staff of the Pakistan Navy, Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi NI (M), S BT, currently in Sri Lanka called on the President, Prime Minister, and the Commanders of the Three-Armed Forces.

Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi, Chief of the Pakistan Navy, who is currently on an official visit to Sri Lanka met President Ranil Wickremesinghe at the President’s Office on Monday (27) and engaged in a discussion.

During the discussion, the emphasis was placed on enhancing the maritime regional cooperation between Sri Lanka and Pakistan, alongside exploring opportunities for the further expansion of maritime activities between the two nations.

Symbolizing this meeting, the Pakistan Navy Chief presented a commemorative gift to President Wickremesinghe.

Admiral Niazi meets Prime Minister:

Pakistan will support Sri Lanka’s policy on maritime peace and security, said Chief of Naval Staff of the Pakistan Navy, Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi when he called on Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena at the Temple Trees on Monday (27).

During the discussions, the Prime Minister thanked Pakistan for the support extended to Sri Lanka during the armed conflict as well as at the international forums. 

He also emphasized on enhancing maritime regional cooperation between Sri Lanka and Pakistan, alongside exploring opportunities for the further expansion of maritime activities between the two nations.

The Prime Minister briefed him on Sri Lanka’s interest in maritime peace and security, being a maritime hub located in close proximity to international sea lanes. 

Chief of Naval Staff of the Pakistan Navy, Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi said his country extends fullest support to Sri Lanka’s policy on maritime security and peace.

Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi referring to the strong relationship between the Armed Forces of the two countries said his country would continue extend training opportunities to the armed forces of Sri Lanka.

Admiral Niazi meets Army Commander:

The Chief of the Naval Staff of the Pakistan Navy, Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi NI (M), S BT, currently in Sri Lanka on a four-day long goodwill visit called on Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage, Commander of the Army on Monday (27) at the Army Headquarters.

During the meeting that ensued with Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage at his office, the visiting Chief of the Naval Staff of the Pakistan Navy exchanged views on bilateral matters of concern to both the Sri Lanka Army and the Pakistan Navy. 

Discussions also focused on security in the region and other related issues.

Adding significance to his visit to the office of the Commander of the Army, the visiting Chief of the Naval Staff of the Pakistan Navy left his compliments in the Visitors' Book at the Commander’s office. Before Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi’s NI (M), S BT exit, both military leaders, determined to continue their understanding and goodwill exchanged mementos and symbolized their close neighbourhood affiliations.

Admiral Niazi meets Air Force Commander:

The Chief of Naval Staff of the Pakistan Navy, Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi called on the Commander of Air force, Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana also on Monday (27) morning.

Official plaques were exchanged between the two Chiefs at the Commander’s Office after which Admiral Muhammad Amjad met with the Deputy Chief of Staff and the Board of Management of the SLAF.  

Following the formalities, Air Marshal Pathirana and Admiral Muhammad Amjad discussed bilateral matters of mutual interest, including strengthening defence cooperation and enhancing training opportunities.

Admiral Niazi meets Navy Commander:

The Chief of Naval Staff of Pakistan Navy, Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi who is currently on an official visit to Sri Lanka, met with Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera at the Navy Headquarters on Saturday (25).

The top military brass discussed several matters important to the navies of both countries, reminiscing the long-standing relationship between Pakistan and Sri Lanka. 

The cordial discussion drew to a close with an exchange of mementoes to mark the goodwill and camaraderie. 

He will also visit the Eastern Naval Command and Naval and Maritime Academy in Trincomalee.

Further, the Pakistan Navy Chief will also attend several programmes organised by the Sri Lanka Navy.

Concluding the official visit, the Chief of Naval Staff of Pakistan Navy will leave the island on 28th February.
