Colombo (News 1st) - The collective of opposition parties has appointed several committees to study the proposed bills to be brought by the government in the future, including the proposed Broadcasting Authority Bill.
Professor Charitha Herath will chair the committee appointed to study the proposed Broadcasting Authority Bill.
The committee comprises Imthiaz Bakeer Markar, Gayantha Karunatilleka, Dr. Harsha de Silva and Eran Wickramaratne.
A spokesperson said the relevant committee has commenced obtaining opinions of various parties including journalists and university lecturers regarding the proposed bill.
He said the position of the collective of opposition parties on the proposed Broadcasting Authority Bill will be announced, after consulting all parties.
The collective of opposition parties has also taken steps to appoint a committee chaired by Prof. G. L. Peiris to study the Anti-Terrorism Bill.
The committee appointed to study the Central Bank Bill and take further action will be chaired by Eran Wickramaratne .
A special discussion regarding the proposed Broadcasting Authority Bill is scheduled to be held in Parliament on the 7th of June, chaired by Minister of Justice President's Counsel Dr. Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe.
