Warrant issued for the arrest of Wimal Weerawansa

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Hultsdorf Number 1 Magistrate's Court issued a warrant for the arrest of MP Wimal Weerawansa.

The warrant was issued as he failed to appear in court for the case filed over the demonstration that took place opposite the UN office in Thummulla, Colombo in 2016.

The case was filed by the Cinnamon Gardens Police for causing disturbance to the people and the normal flow of traffic by protesting against the arrival of the then-UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Prince Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein, to the island in February 2016.
