Operation to rescue 14 beached pilot whales in Kalpitiya

COLOMBO (News 1st) - A massive rescue operation to save 14 beached pilot whales was underway in the coastal town of Kalpitiya, Sri Lanka.
The pilot whales had washed up on the Kudawa beach in Kandakuliya early on Saturday (11).
Three of the whales were confirmed dead by Sri Lanka Police.
Efforts to rescue the remaining 11 were underway, led by Sri Lanka Navy, police, and wildlife officers.
