The Sri Lankan Combat Convoy Company (CCC-4), deployed in the United Nations (UN) Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA) came in for praise of Lieutenant General C.J. Kees Matthijssen, Force Commander, MINUSMA in December.
Colonel Chandana Jayamaha, Commanding Officer of the CCC-4 warmly welcomed the Force Commander MINUSMA at the entrance to the camp in Gao, Mali and introduced him to the Senior Officers serving the CCC-4.
Lieutenant General C.J Kees Matthijssen in his address to the CCC commended their dedicated role, being performed in the last five months and stated that the CCC-4 has performed its duties with outstanding dedication and professionalism as the only contingent conducting convoy operations to MINUSMA bases, located in Kidal, Aguelhoc and Tessalit regions.
"You have been providing security for logistic convoys under trying circumstances having carried out operations covering more than 5346 km while providing security to 154 fuel bowsers and 115 cargo trucks despite life-threatening risks and adverse weather and inhospitable terrains,” said Lieutenant General C.J Kees Matthijssen.
The Lieutenant General awarded the “Force Commander's Commendation” certificates to Colonel Chandana Jayamaha and members of the CCC-4.
