COLOMBO (News 1st) - South African President CyrilRamaphosa visited Sri Lanka on Wednesday (16) night for a short stay.
He arrived in Sri Lanka during his return to South Africa after attending the G20 Summit in Indonesia.
The South African President met his Sri Lankan counterpart Ranil Wickremesinghe at the Katunayake Air Force base for discussions on bilateral issues.
The discussions were focused on further strengthening the bilateral relationship aiming at economic cooperation and investment, expanding tourism in Sri Lanka, and receiving South African assistance, guidance and counseling in setting up a credible truth-seeking mechanism to achieve a lasting reconciliation amongst communities.
Reports said that Sri Lanka hosted a birthday celebration for the South African President.

Cyril Ramaphosa was born in Soweto on 17 November 1952. He is widely recognised as a successful businessman and respected politician and commended for his humility.
His credentials for the struggle against apartheid can be traced to his activism in student politics at the University of the North (now University of Limpopo).
