Coal shipment of 60,000 MT reaches Colombo

COLOMBO (News 1st) - A vessel carrying 60,000 MT of coal reached Sri Lanka on Tuesday (25), said Lanka Coal Company.

The unloading of the coal will commence today (26).

Lanka Coal Company said that with sufficient coal stocks it will be possible to maintain the generation of electricity at the Norochcholai Power Plant without any interruption.

Further, before December 4th, another 4 ships of coal are scheduled to arrive in Sri Lanka.

Meanwhile, the Lanka Coal Company noted that the application period for the tender related to the selection of a new supplier for the purchase of coal ended yesterday (25).
