COLOMBO (News 1st) - A mobile phone was recovered from the cell occupied by Thilini Priyamali, who was arrested for financial fraud, at the Welikada Prison.
The mobile device was handed over to the Criminal Investigations Department.
Prisons Commissioner and Spokesperson Chandana Ekanayake told News 1st that the device was recovered by the Sri Lanka Prisons Emergency Action and Tactical Force on Sunday (9) night.
He said the Superintendent of the Welikada Prison is leading an internal investigation into the matter.
At the same time, General Secretary of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party Dayasiri Jayasekera, and MP Nalaka Godahewa filed a complaint with the Criminal Investigations Department seeking an investigation into statements alleging that they were involved in transactions with the woman in question.
