COLOMBO (News 1st); 231 people were injured in yesterday's (9) clashes and have been admitted to multiple hospitals, and 218 of them are receiving treatment at the Colombo National Hospital.
A spokesperson for the National Hospital said that people injured in the clashes were admitted to the hospital last night (9) as well.
WEERAKETIYA:
Meanwhile, two people were killed and five others were injured in a shooting that took place at the Weeraketiya Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman's residence last night (9).
NITTAMBUWA:
Meanwhile, SLPP Member of Parliament Amarakeerthi Athukorala and his security guard died in Nittambuwa yesterday (9) afternoon.
News 1st Correspondent said that the Member of Parliament had died in Nittambuwa on his way back from Colombo.
Eye-witnesses said that the people who had come with the Member of Parliament to Nittambuwa had shot at a group of people who had gathered in Nittambuwa to protest against the attack on the peaceful protesters in front of the Temple Trees and the President's Office.
AnothEr 27-year-old male died in the incident.
NEGOMBO:
In addition, one person was killed and four others injured following an attack on a popular star hotel in Negombo.
Multiple luxury cars worth millions of rupees were completely destroyed.
IMADUWA:
Chairman of the Imaduwa Pradeshiya Sabha A. V. Sarath Kumara was reported dead upon hospitalization following an attack on his residence.
