Red alert issued for likely cyclonic storm over Bay of Bengal

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Department of Meterology has issued a red alert for the likely development of a cyclonic storm over the Bay of Bengal area.

According to the Meteorology Department, the low pressure area over south Andaman Sea and neighborhood became well-marked low 

pressure area and persisted over the same region at 08.30 a.m. today (07).

It is very likely to move northwestwards and intensify into a depression over southeast Bay of Bengal during next few hours and further into a cyclonic storm over East-central Bay of Bengal by 8th of May.
