COLOMBO (News 1st); Gammadda is a movement that's changing the lives across Sri Lanka together with the people.

From today the villagers of Maha Katuwaragalawewa in Anuradhapura will drink clean water, after decades of suffering.

Ever wondered what life would be like if you had to walk several kilometers to get to clean water to quench your thirst.

This is life for the Residents of Maha Katuwaragalawewa in Kabadigollawa, Anuradhapura.

Today their suffering came to an end.

Gammadda declared open a water purification plant for the 110 families that live in this village.

This project was made possible by the generous support of Surani Senanayake, who was the President of the International Women's Society in Sri Lanka in the year 2021.

Technical expertise was provided for this project by the Ceylon Water Board.

"The people of our village who would have fallen victim to kidney disease are now safe because of this project by Gammadda. Everyone in our village is overjoyed," said one local.

This is what is possible when the people stand united.
