COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka has distributed a total of 250,000 Indigenous Medicine Boxes to residences, it was revealed on Tuesday (24) at the weekly Cabinet Media Briefing.
Cabinet Spokesperson Minister Dullas Alahapperuma explained that though it was decided to allocate Rs. 6 Billion for this purpose, the Cabinet had only approved Rs. 2.5 Bn for the first phase.
Quoting a brief from State Minister of Indigenous Medicine Promotion, Rural and Ayurveda Hospitals Development Sisira Jayakody, the Minister said of the approved Rs. 2.5 Billion, the Treasury had only released Rs. 250 Million.
He said one Indigenous Medicine Box was prepared on the assumption that is costs Rs. 1000/- and therefore accordingly, a total of 250,000 such Indigenous Medicine Boxes were delivered.
