COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka's Ministry of Tourism states that the number of tourists visiting the island on a daily - basis has exceeded 3,000 mostly from neighbouring India.
Ministry secretary Siripala Hettiarachchi said the ease of restrictions in August helped reach set target arrivals of tourists.
September - 13,000
October - 22,000 +
November - 44,000 +
December (to date)- 44,000 +
Hettiarachchi noted close to 150,000 tourist arrivals have been recorded from January 2021 to date. He further noted a target of 200,000 arrivals was set for this year and they hope to reach at least 175,000 to 185,000 tourist arrivals at the end of the year (2021).
