COLOMBO (News 1st); Whale Watching Boat operators in Mirissa, a coastal village in Southern Sri Lanka complain that there are no more whales in the deep seas of the coast. The seas off Mirissa in Sri Lanka became internationally famous as one of the few locations in the world where one could observe a resident whale population. On Monday (29), Whale-watching boat operators took to the seas, to prove that whales were no longer present in the area as they were earlier. No whales were seen up to 30 nautical miles into the seas off Mirissa. Environmentalists have raised serious concerns with regard to the absence of whales, pointing fingers at the recent marine disaster caused by the X-Press Pearl. A possible connection between the Xpress Pearl Disaster and the case of the missing whales of Mirrissa, remains to be proven. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5y1-WWoj6lI
