COLOMBO (News 1st); The State Minister of Production, Supply and Regulation of Pharmaceutical Prof. Channa Jayasumana says that a consignment of 1.5 million doses of the Pfizer vaccine has reached the country today (22).
At 1,503,450 Pfizer vaccines, this is the largest consignment of vaccines Sri Lanka has received so far.
The relevant consignment of vaccines will be stored at the Narahenpita blood bank, whilst another consignment of 500,000 doses of the Pfizer vaccine is due to arrive tomorrow (23).
Meanwhile, Prof. Jayasumana says around 90% of the population above the age of 20 have been vaccinated against COVID-19.
While highlighting that those who have been fully vaccinated are less likely to show symptoms of the virus, the State Minister requested the people to direct themselves to a PCR test if they do feel ill.
