COLOMBO (News 1st); The Attorney General had decided to drop the charges against former Navy Commander Admiral of the Fleet Wasantha Karannagoda based on a confidential report on Karannagoda provided to the AG by an Additional Solicitor General, ASG Nerin Pulle told the Court of Appeal on Monday (1).
The Court of Appeal ordered the Attorney General to submit the said confidential report to the court on Tuesday (2).
On the 4th of August, the Attorney General informed the Colombo Permanent High Court Trial-at-Bar that the charges against former Navy Commander Admiral of the Fleet Wasantha Karannagoda would not be carried forward.
Admiral of the Fleet Wasanna Karannagoda is the 14th suspect in the case filed by the Attorney General on charges including abduction and enforced disappearance of 11 youth from Colombo.
Thereafter, relatives of the 11 youth filed an application with the Court of Appeal challenging the decision taken by the Attorney General.
