Heavy Rains experienced in many areas

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Meteorological Department warns that the low pressure area still persists in the vicinity of Sri Lanka and showers and thundershowers will occur at times in most parts of the island. Accordingly, heavy showers above 100mm can be expected at some places in the North Central, North Western, Central, Sabaragamuwa and Western Provinces and in the Galle and Matara Districts. Fairly heavy showers above 50mm can be expected elsewhere. General public has been kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
