Sri Lanka's sovereignty cannot be threatened : Sajith

COLOMBO (News 1st); Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa says that the sovereignty of the country cannot be threatened. Participating in the "Vipakshayen Husmak" program, the Opposition Leader said that Government's so-called patriotism is missing and it has fallen to the extent of bowing down to foreign envoys and multinational companies. Premadasa also stated that no one should be allowed to play with the sovereignty of a country and that the Samagi Jana Balawewa would oppose this arbitrary policy. He stated that the Government had set aside all the recommendations of the Plant Quarantine Unit regarding the fertilizer ship, and the Opposition Leader also questioned the need to bring substandard fertilizer to Sri Lanka. He further questioned the motive for the Seiyo Explorer (previously Hippo Spirit) fertilizer ship to go undetected,  having the same IMO number and about changing its name as well. "Why are the ships forcing themselves on Sri Lanka despite having confirmed that the pathogen 'Erwinia Bacillus' is present in the stocks of fertilizer?" Premadasa questioned.
