Sri Lanka to eradicate tuberculosis by 2030

COLOMBO (News 1st); Minister of Health Keheliya Rambukwella says that Sri Lanka to committed to eradicating tuberculosis by 2030. He stated this speaking at a World Health Organization (WHO) conference on tuberculosis in Asia, via zoom yesterday (26). Emphasizing that the prisons, the plantation sector, the urban poor, domestic and external workers are at risk for the disease, the Minister said that Sri Lanka has been able to control tuberculosis through multi-sectoral strategies. Minister Rambukwella added that around 8,000 tuberculosis patients are reported from this country annually.
