Grace period granted for expired vehicle revenue licenses in WP

COLOMBO (News 1st); A grace period has been granted to obtain vehicle revenue licenses in the Western Province. Accordingly, revenue licenses for vehicles expiring from 12 August to 31 October will be issued new licenses until 30 November without a penalty. The decision has been taken due to the breakdowns of the computer system which issues vehicle revenue licenses from time to time. In a statement, the Chief Secretary of the Western Province, J.M.C. Jayanthi Wijetunge pointed out that the Information and Communication Technology Agency has exceeded the capacity of the computer system, which issues vehicle revenue licenses. As a result, she said that there may be a delay in the issuance of vehicle revenue licenses. The announcement further states that the grace period will be extended to prevent any inconvenience to the public until proper action is taken to restore the computer system.
