COLOMBO (News 1st); Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa has called on the government to employ an independent international body, like the Scotland Yard, to probe the Sri Lankans links mentioned in the Pandora Papers.
The Leader of the Opposition said that Pandora Papers have revealed information on secret financial transactions including the unlawful gathering of money, tax evasion, and money laundering and that an inquiry of international standards should be conducted into the matter.
He said that all those linked to these allegations need to be exposed.
"Several heads of state have responded to allegations of assets revealed by Pandora Papers. Pakistan initiated immediate action. They say that immediate investigations will be conducted and the culprits will be brought to book. Some other countries also make that claim," said Premadasa.
Therefore, an immediate impartial, transparent, and internationally recognized investigation should be conducted to find out Pandora fraudsters, he added.
