Govt. is of no use if it cannot curb rice mafia: Ven. Akmeemana Thero

COLOMBO (News 1st); The General Secretary of the Sinhala Ravaya Organization Ven. Akmeemana Dayaratne Thero alleged that if the Government cannot eradicate the rice mafia, it is of no use. He said this while expressing his views regarding the rice mafia at a media briefing held today (02). " We outlined the course of action to curb the rice mafia way before. The Govrenment needs to let go of their henchmen. The rice mafia can be wiped out by not prioritizing the henchmen. This Government has been given two thirds in Parliament, then why cannot they do anything? The people have given them full powers. Therefore, if a Government cannot stop the mafia, that government is of no use. If the rice mafia is run by a rice mill owner, what should be done is to give them five days to release rice stocks from the mill immediately. If they fail to do so, all the stocks of rice should be confiscated on the sixth day. The confiscated rice needs to be tested and then distributed to the people." Ven Dayaratne Thero added.
