Petition challenging Cabraal's appointment to be considered on October 7th

COLOMBO (News 1st); The petition filed by Former Provincial Governor Rajith Keerthi Tennakoon challenging the appointment of Ajith Nivard Cabraal as the Governor of the Central Bank (CBSL) will be called up for consideration on the 07th of October.

The application was called up in the presence of Justices Sobitha Rajakaruna and Dhammika Ganepola.

The court ordered that any limited objection may be submitted before the 30th of September,

President's Counsel Romesh De Silva, appearing for Ajith Nivard Cabraal told the court that the copies of the documents filed by the petitioner were only received on Tuesday (21), and requested an alternative date to make submissions after perusing the said documents.

The Attorney General, the Inspector General of Police, The Secretary to the President, Ajith Nivard Cabraal, Finance Minister, Deputy Governor of the Central Bank, and several others were named as respondents in the application.
