COLOMBO (News 1st): Samagi Jana Balawegaya MP Patali Champika Ranawaka says that a government program is being implemented to transfer the resources of the country to foreign countries.
" The Yugadhanavi power plant, which is owned by the Electricity Board, is a state-run power plant. All foreign loans of the plant will be repaid in March next year, and it will be paid entirely the citizens of Sri lanka. This power plant has been handed over to a U.S. company without any procurement process." The MP said.
He further stated that another power plant called Swabhadhanavi has been initiated, with a capacity of 300 MW.
" The power plant is also being run by a State owned company. This power plant is expected to receive a loan from the Asian Development Bank, but in the current context, the plant has not received the relevant financial support it needs from the Government to initiate it," He mentioned.
" The employees of the CEB who know about this agreement are speaking against it, but they are being suppressed under the emergency law. Several properties are to be vested with overseas businessmen." The former Minister said.
He added that whenever the employees of any institution or industry rise up against undisclosed procurements, the emergency law is used to suppress those employees.
