LATEST COVID - 19 FATALITY NUMBERS - Over 7,000 deaths since 15th April

COLOMBO (News 1st); Latest reports reveal that in the last five (5) days from 21st of August to 25th August, a total of 963 people died of COVID-19 related causes in Sri Lanka.

During that window, more than 4,000 Covid-19 cases were recorded on a daily basis.

In the previous week, between the 14th and 20th of August 2021, the records reveal that 155 people who died of COVID-19 had passed away at their residences, while 990 passed away at the hospital and 65 patients succumbed on their way to the hospital.

In contrast, only 13 people died in the eight (8) month period of COVID-19 during the 01st COVID wave from the 11th of March 2020 to the 03rd of October 2020. 596 people died of COVID-19 during the seven (7) month-long 02nd COVID wave from the 04th of October 2020 to the 14th of April 2021.

7,339 people have died of COVID-19 since the 15th of April 2021 to date in Sri Lanka, during the 03rd wave.
