COLOMBO (News 1st) : The Prisons Spokesperson Chandana Ekanayake says that an investigation has been launched into the incident of incarcerated former Minister Rishad Bathiudeen threatening a prisons doctor.
The investigations have been launched regarding a complaint lodged by the relevant prison doctor with the Borella Police alleging that former Minister Rishad Bathiudeen had made death threats against him.
The Police IGP has instructed that the investigation be carried out through the Colombo Crimes Division.
The complaint lodged by a doctor at the Colombo Magazine Prison is stated that MP Rishad Bathiudeen forcibly arrived at the scene while he was examining another inmate.
The doctor had complained to the police that he had received death threats after being told to stay away from the scene.
Following a written complaint lodged with the IGP by the Commissioner General of Prisons, the Colombo Crimes Division is conducting further investigations on the orders of the IGP.
