COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka's Army Commander said the vaccination drive in the country will continue without any disruption, despite a nationwide lockdown is in effect.
General Shavendra Silva told News 1st that Sri Lanka already received 19.6 million vaccine doses and over 12 million doses have been administered as the first dose.
General Silva said it is important for the over 60 population to obtain the vaccine against COVID-19, without delay.
'185 people were confirmed to have died of COVID-19 on Thursday (19). 151 of them were over the age of 60 and a majority of them had not obtained a single vaccine,' he said.
The President had stressed that the vaccine must be administered to all senior citizens, said the Army Commander.
At a meeting on Friday (20), the President had stressed authorities to trace all the over 60 citizens in the country who have not obtained the vaccine against COVID-19, and administer the vaccine, said the Army Commander. 154 Vaccination Centers Open on Saturday (21).
