Urge Parliamentarians to donate 75% of salary: Minister Ranatunga

COLOMBO (News 1st): Minister Prasanna Ranatunga has proposed several steps that public servants, Parliamentarians and the President can take if the country is to close down. Accordingly, Minister Ranatunga proposes for the President to encourage Parliamentarians to donate 75% of their salaries, for public and private sector employees, except for health workers to donate 50% of their salaries and for minor workers to donate 30% of their salaries during the lockdown period. . The proposal was made by the Minister in a letter to President Gotabaya Rajapaksa entitled 'Actions to be taken in the face of the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic'.
