COLOMBO (News 1st); TNA Parliamentarian M. A. Sumanthiran slammed the Minister of Public Security for not providing answers to several issues that were raised in Parliament on Friday (06).

The MP raised serious concerns over abductions carried out in civil attire by law enforcement.

"This is a serious issue. It only shows a thorough breakdown of the law and order situation in this country. I don't know why we even have a minister called a public security minister," said the MP.

He went on to note that senior lecturers, student leaders, and others are abducted in broad daylight by police personnel in civies.

"Why do they have to come in civies? Why do they have to come in white vans? You are reminding the white van culture. You want to tell the country, remember we did this earlier, we have brought it back," said the MP.

He reprimanded the government for making attempts to instill fear in the people's minds.

Rear Admiral (Rtd) Dr. Sarath Weerasekara, the Minister of Public Security said the MP is making a statement with no meaning.
