Inoculation of 02nd dose of AstraZeneca vaccines begin in Colombo & Gampaha today

COLOMBO (News 1st): The inoculation of the second dose of AstraZeneca vaccines in the Colombo and Gampaha districts began this morning. Sri Lanka has received 728,460 AstraZeneca vaccines from Japan under the World Health Organization's COVAX vaccine sharing facility. Japan provided the consignment to Sri Lanka at the request of a diplomatic mission. Around 600,000 people who received the first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine manufactured under the brand name Covishield had not received the second jab. This was after India's Serum institute that manufactured the jabs halted exports.
