(VIDEO) Ranil voices concern on attempts against Harin and Rishad

COLOMBO (News 1st); UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe on Monday (19) defended MP Harin Fernando claiming that attempts to question and even detain him are in violation of the privileges of Parliament.

'Police attempted to interrogate him based on a statement made by his father which was already examined by the Presidential Commission of Inquiry and thereafter to take him into custody. This was prevented by an order of the Supreme Court,' said Wickremesinghe.

He said the matter of MP Rishad Bathiudeen is also on the same lines.

Public Security Minister Sarath Weerasekera said when Wickremesinghe was in power he violated the constitution as Prime Minister when establishing the FCID.
