LTTE sympathizer deported from Qatar & arrested at Quarantine Center

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Terrorist Investigations Division arrested a 41-year-old male from the Mulliyaweli Quarantine Facility for propagating the LTTE and supporting attempts to revive the LTTE since 2019.

Police Spokesperson Senior DIG Ajith Rohana said the suspect had fled Sri Lanka to Qatar in 2019.

The Terrorist Investigations Division had thereafter issued a BLUE NOTICE against the suspect via INTERPOL, said the Senior DIG.

As per the BLUE NOTICE, the State of Qatar had deported the suspect.

'He was arrested following the completion of the 14-day quarantine period and the suspect is being detained as per the provisions of the Prevention of Terrorism Act,' said the Police Spokesperson.
