Wife arrested over Negombo businessman's death

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka Police arrested the wife and another person over the death of leading businessmen from Negombo.

Police Spokesperson Senior DIG Ajith Rohana speaking to News 1st said the businessmen had died on the 03rd of October 2020 and a funeral was also carried out.

However, the police received information that the death was suspicious thereafter and an investigation was launched, he said.

"The wife of the businessmen and an employee at the businessman's company were arrested on suspicion over the death," he added.

The suspects were remanded until the 30th of June and Police will be seeking an order to exhume the body of the deceased for investigations, said the Senior DIG.
