COLOMBO (News 1st): State Ministry of Production, Supply, and Regulation of Pharmaceuticals is set to conduct studies on whether or not a 03rd dose of the COVID-19 vaccine should be administered.
The National Medicines Regulatory Authority of Sri Lanka (NMRA) was already instructed to inform its expert opinion on the matter, Prof. Channa Jayasumana, the State Minister of Production, Supply and Regulation of Pharmaceuticals said.
According to the Minister, special attention will be drawn to the studies conducted across the globe, regarding the administration of a 03rd dose of the vaccine in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
President Gotabaya Rajapaksa instructed officials to order a batch of vaccines for a third dose if necessary, taking the ongoing global situation into account and based on the recommendations by the medical experts.
