New consignment of 01 million Sinopharm Vaccines reach the island

COLOMBO (News 1st); Another flight carrying 01 million Sinopharm Vaccines arrived at the Bandaranaike International Airport on Wednesday (09).

Chief of the Presidential Task Force on the Procurement of COVID Vaccine - Principal Adviser to the President Lalith Weerathunga said 03 million Sinopharm vaccines in total are expected to be received within this month.

He was hopeful that Sri Lanka would receive another 01 million doses of the Sinopharm jab by the end of June.

According to Lalith Weeratunga, 13 million people in Sri Lanka are eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine and the government is hopeful that 65% to 70% of the country's population could be inoculated by the end of this year.
