Travel restrictions may come into effect soon, 1500+ COVID cases detected today

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka recorded 1,581 COVID-19 cases as of 06:00 PM on Monday (10), said Army Commander General Shavendra Silva adding a majority of these infections were detected from the Colombo District.

"Inter-Provincial travel restrictions may be imposed in the next few days and it will not apply to vehicles engaged in essential services & in the distribution of essential food items," said the Army Commander.

Trips and other excursions will not be permitted when such restrictions come into effect, he said adding a decision on imposing travel restrictions rather than opting for a total lockdown was recommended at a meeting attended by experts on Monda (10) morning.
