COLOMBO (News 1st); The Police Special Task Force, which is also the Paramilitary Unit of Sri Lanka Police established a special unit named the Special Waterborne Operation Squad.
16 STF personnel were trained by the experts from the United Nations Office of Drugs and Crimes and the Sri Lanka Powerboat Association, said Police Spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana on Monday (10).
Public Security Minister Rear Admiral (Retd) Dr. Sarath Weerasekara officiall launched the squad on Sunday (09) in Bolgoda.
The Special Water-Borne Operation Squad will be used conduct operations across the country against sand-mining, deforestation, smuggling and other illegal activities.
