COLOMBO (News 1st); There is NO shortage of oxygen that is required to provide treatment for COVID-19 patients, emphasized Sri Lanka's Director General of Health Services on Tuesday (27).
The Health Ministry in a statement noted that on Tuesday (27) a national newspaper and social media reports suggested there was a shortage of oxygen for COVID-19 patients at the Kalubowila Hospital and that patient lives were at risk. The Director-General of Health Services had dismissed these claims as false and stressed there is NO such shortage of oxygen. Dr. Asela Gunawardena, the Director-General of Health Services further noted local oxygen producers are committed to providing more than the required amount of oxygen and COVID-19 Treatment Hospitals and Teaching Hospitals are provided with oxygen use large cylinders.
