Colombo (News 1st); SriLankan Airlines on Thursday (22) said SriLankan Airlines Flight UL116 which was parked at the Male International Airport was damaged when a ground support vehicle collided with the aircraft.
Minor structural damage occurred to the tail section (stabilizer) of the aircraft due to the incident, said SriLankan Airlines. 'The SriLankan Airlines Engineering team based at the Male International Aiport is currently working around the clock to replace the affected parts and return the aircraft to service,' said the national carrier. According to reports, the plane was operating flight UL1115, departing Colombo, and arrived in Malé after a flight time of one hour and nine minutes. The aircraft was scheduled to operate the return flight UL1116, departing at 15:05 on Wednesday (21).
