Colombo (News 1st); Renuka Perera has resigned from the post of Chairman of the National Housing Development Authority on Tuesday (20).
In a letter to the Prime Minister, Renuka Perera said he decided to step down due to influence and pressure from the subject State Minister. Renuka Perera said he was influenced on multiple occasions to appoint a person found guilty by an audit inquiry to the post of Acting Superintendent of the National Housing Development Authority, and he did not agree to it. In his letter of resignation, Renuka Perera said he informed the Prime Minister and Secretary of the same matter adding that he resigned because he cannot work with corrupt officials. Copies of the letter of resignation were addressed to the Secretary to the President, the President, the Ministry Secretary, and Basil Rajapaksa.
